Capillary Chemical Dosing Systems
Capillary dosing systems are comprehensive solutions for the point-specific injection of chemicals into a well. The system consists of a surface dosing unit (configured to the customer’s specifications) and a capillary line equipped with all necessary components for reliable operation in harsh conditions.
Applications:
This equipment enables precise reagent delivery to a predetermined point, which is critical for efficient production. Main usage scenarios include:
- ESP Protection: Dosing of corrosion inhibitors below the submersible motor to ensure complete protection of the entire Electric Submersible Pump (ESP) system.
- Deposit Control: Injection of demulsifiers or inhibitors for ASO (asphalt, resin, and paraffin deposits) directly at the pump intake.
- Formation Treatment: Pumping of ASO solvents directly into the perforation intervals.
Technology Advantages:
The primary benefit of using capillary systems is the guaranteed delivery of the chemical agent to a strictly defined location. This eliminates the impact of adverse side effects common with traditional bullheading methods, such as a “foam cap” at the dynamic fluid level, ASO accumulation, or low reagent density.
Configuration and Equipment:
Depending on the well’s geological conditions and specific objectives, the system can be equipped with auxiliary components:
- Cable Protectors: For additional protection of the capillary line along its entire length.
- Protectolizer: To protect the capillary tubing at the ESP neck transition zone.
- Tubing Couplings with Injection Valves: For reagent delivery into the production tubing string above the pump.
- Downhole Spray Valves: To prevent backflow through the capillary.
- Sinker Bars / Weights: To ensure stable positioning of the capillary below the pump.
- Repair Kits: For emergency field splicing of capillary lines.
- Wellhead Entry Devices: (Flange-mounted or stuffing box types).
Technological Feature (Know-How):
We have solved the issue of the short service life of standard polyethylene hoses, which rapidly fail when exposed to aggressive media (solvents, inhibitors). Our systems utilize capillaries with an inner stainless steel tube, guaranteeing a significantly increased operational lifespan and maintaining the chemical resistance of the entire line.
